This photograph of the North Door in the Entrance Hall was taken by David Wiegold on November 27, 2023 during a press preview of the White House holiday decorations. President Joseph R. Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden selected "Magic, Wonder, and Joy" as the 2023 holiday theme. The decor was inspired by children and how they embrace and revel in the holiday season. The 200th anniversary of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas influenced the decorations in the Entrance Hall and adjoining Cross Hall. The decorations around the North Door, which leads outside to the North Portico, included the famous line, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" scrawled across a banner. Throughout the space, including in the niches along the Cross Hall’s south wall and a soaring Santa Claus and sleigh above the Entrance Hall, were scenes from the famous holiday tale.

To the left are members of the United States Marine Band under the direction of Col. Jason K. Fettig. For their second year in the White House, President Joseph R. Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden chose the theme, "We the People." The theme was inspired by the shared values of the American people and the promise of unity, hope, and possibility that represents America’s history. Reflection and an appreciation for what brings Americans together as a nation inspired the decorations in the Entrance Hall. Ornaments for the 57 states, territories, and the District of Columbia hung on trees alongside small mirrors to showcase the reflections of the American people.

In this black and white photograph, the Harding’s family pet Airedale terrier, Laddie Boy, waits patiently at the Executive offices of the White House for the return of President Warren G. Harding, who was in the midst of his summer-long "Voyage of Understanding" in the western United States. This photograph was taken a day before President Harding unexpectedly died while on his tour of America. Harding’s presidential campaign slogan was "Return to Normalcy" following the end of World War I, and Laddie Boy was the perfect representation of this shift. He even sat in on meetings and had his own cabinet chair. This photograph is from the Herbert E. French Collection, of the National Photo Company at the Library of Congress, which captured life in Washington, D.C., from the Wilson to the Hoover administrations.
